Accessibility
Accessibility statement
We want every family to be able to find their way to Fairy Spot. That means making our website work for everyone, including people with disabilities and people who use assistive technology.
What we aim for
We try to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2, Level AA) for the parts of our site we build and look after ourselves. WCAG 2.2 is the international standard most people use for web accessibility.
A few honest notes:
- Accessibility is ongoing work, not something we finish once.
- Full conformance all the time may not always be possible as technology and standards change.
- No single technical standard is formally required for all private websites under current U.S. law.
We make good-faith efforts to keep improving, but we can't promise every part of the site will be fully accessible in every browser or with every assistive technology.
What this covers
This statement covers:
- Our website pages at www.fairyspot.com.
- Content and features we make and maintain ourselves, like page copy, images, and downloads we create.
It doesn't cover:
- Third-party tools and services, like our store platform (Shopify), email signup forms, checkout and payment processing, analytics, or embedded media.
- Other websites we link to.
We try to choose partners with accessibility in mind, but we don't control their code or updates and can't guarantee their accessibility.
Known limitations
Some parts of the site may not fully meet WCAG yet, especially:
- Email signup forms provided by a third-party service.
- Decorative animations and illustrations.
- Downloadable files (like PDFs) that may not be fully tagged for screen readers.
- Embedded videos or media that may not have captions or transcripts.
We focus improvements on new content and the most-used parts of the site first.
What we check
We regularly review the parts of the site we control, including:
- Keyboard navigation and visible focus.
- Color contrast and text readability.
- Heading structure and semantic markup.
- Form labels, error messages, and image alt text.
- Respecting reduced-motion settings.
- Working with common screen readers like VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS.
When we find or hear about a barrier in something we control, we'll work to fix it quickly.
